Does pumping breastmilk instead of directly breastfeeding affect the birth control effect of breastfeeding?

I have read about breastfeeding as a 98% contraceptive. Does this percentage decrease if milk is pumped? (The number of times breastmilk is expressed is still every 2-3hours daily, as if it were relied on the baby's demand.)Does pumping breastmilk instead of directly breastfeeding affect the birth control effect of breastfeeding?
Oh my goodness. That's not even an old wives tale. That's a straight up myth. Breastfeeding does not work as a contraceptive at all! You can get pregnant as soon as you start ovulating again. If you don't want another baby right away, you should use condoms. THEY are 98% effective.Does pumping breastmilk instead of directly breastfeeding affect the birth control effect of breastfeeding?
hmm... it will work the same pumping or actually breastfeeding.. but relying on it alone to prevent pregnancy is not 98%... you need to speak to your doctor cause my friend got pregnant with her second child 2-3 months after delivering her first. she breastfed regularly.. it is common and is happening more and more..
no oxycotin causes the let down of milk if it leaves the nipple then you cant get fertilized
ha ha ha breastfeeding IS NOT a form of contraceptive, seriously, don't buy into that crap. Thats how I got preggo with my son.
It shouldn't, but DO NOT rely on breastfeeding as your only form of birth control! You will have no idea when you ovulate which makes it really risky to only rely on breastfeeding! I got pregnant when my son was 5 months old, and many women get pregnant sooner than that by just using the breastfeeding ';method';...talk to your doc about another type of b/c or use condoms if you don't want another baby anytime soon! Best of luck!
Not being a wise guy here, but you seem to be confused. What has breastfeeding to do with contraception?
There is a form of ';the pill'; you can take that is safe while breast feeding.

I would not rely on hormones to control your ovulation, honestly i dont think it has anything to do with breastfeeding, I think you can get pregnant again as soon as your body is ready, 6 weeks or 6 months, why risk it?
i dont know why dont you drink milk from a cow like everyone else does
